Leroy J Rolens from Potosi, Missouri, an 86-year-old man, tragically lost his life in a car crash on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 4:45 PM in St. Francois County, Missouri.
The collision occurred at the following location: HIGHWAY 8 WEST OF MARLER ROAD
In this unfortunate incident, Rolens was one of the drivers involved. The police recounted the events of the crash as follows:
FATALITY REPORT - Vehicle #1 was heading eastbound on Missouri 8. The driver of vehicle #1 began to drive on the westbound lanes in an attempt to overtake several cars. Meanwhile, vehicle #2 was moving westbound on Missouri 8. The driver of vehicle #1 failed to notice vehicle #2, resulting in the front of vehicle #1 colliding with the front of vehicle #2. The driver of vehicle #2 was declared dead at the scene at 1705 hours by the St Francois County Coroner. The officers assisting at the scene were CPL. A. J. Shibley (1408), TPR. A. D. Pogue (725), and TPR. Z. L. Ricker (445).
Injuries
Leroy J Rolens tragically sustained fatal injuries. He was transported by the St Francois County Coroner to the St Francois County Morgue .
Vehicle Damage
Rolens was the driver of vehicle #2, a 1997 Oldsmobile Regency. According to the police, the Oldsmobile Regency sustained total damage. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Marlers Towing .

The Missouri State Highway Patrol assigned report number 240427194 to this crash. Trooper T E McVeigh and McIu Sergeant M B Lomedico of the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote up the report.
