38-year-old Luci N Pineda from Farmington, Minnesota tragically lost her life in a crash that occurred on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 5:05 AM in Dekalb County, Missouri.
The incident took place at the 55-mile marker on southbound I-35, just north of Cameron.
At the time of the crash, Pineda was a pedestrian. The police detailed the sequence of events as follows:
A fatal collision occurred when vehicle 1, after being involved in a separate crash, came to a halt on its roof in the middle of southbound I-35. The driver of vehicle 1 had exited her car and was standing on the roadway. Vehicle 2, which was also traveling on southbound I-35, collided with vehicle 1 and pedestrian 1. Following the impact, vehicle 2 veered into the median and came to rest on its wheels facing east. Both vehicle 1 and pedestrian 1 ended up in the driving lane of southbound I-35. Pedestrian 1 (Pineda) was pronounced dead at the scene by Dekalb County Coroner Heath Turner at 07:55 hours. Troopers N.A. Regan (1454), B.T. Quiring (907), Cameron PD, and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance at the scene.
Injuries
Luci N Pineda suffered fatal injuries. She was transported by the Dekalb County Coroner to the Jackson County Medical Examiner .
Vehicle Damage
Pineda was the driver of the first vehicle, a 2000 Toyota 4Runner. According to the police, this vehicle sustained extensive damage, rendering it completely unusable. The damaged vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene by Scottys .
