The collision happened as vehicle #1 was exiting I-29 onto Business 71, while vehicle #2 was heading north on Business 71. Vehicle #1 pulled across Business 71 into the path of vehicle #2, which then struck vehicle #1 on the driver’s side. The impact caused vehicle #1 to slide across the median onto the west side of Business 71, where it came to rest on its wheels facing southwest. Meanwhile, vehicle #2 slid northbound and came to rest on its wheels in the passing lane of Business 71, facing north. The incident was attended by Trooper S.P. Gomez (136).
Injuries
Alaina P. Akins sustained minor injuries. She was privately transported to Mosaic Life Care .
Vehicle Damage
Akins was the driver of vehicle #2, a 2008 Toyota Avalon. According to the police, the Avalon suffered extensive damage, rendering it a total loss. As for the removal of the vehicle, it was handled by Blue Knight Towing .
