Navyasree Chenchu, a 25-year-old woman from St Louis, Missouri, was injured on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 9:00 AM in Boone County, Missouri. The collision occurred at I-70 eastbound at the 120-mile marker. Chenchu was a passenger at the time of the crash.

The police provided the following description of the incident:

Vehicle #1 was following Vehicle #2 in the passing lane, while Vehicle #3 was in the right lane, parallel to Vehicle #2. Vehicle #4 was ahead of Vehicle #2 in the left lane, and Vehicle #5 was in front of Vehicle #3 in the right lane. An unrelated incident caused the traffic ahead to stop, leading to Vehicles #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 being stationary for about 30 seconds. The driver of Vehicle #1 failed to notice the halted traffic ahead, resulting in a collision as the front of Vehicle #1 hit the rear of Vehicle #2. Vehicle #1 then skidded from the left lane into the right, striking the rear of Vehicle #3 and eventually coming to rest partially blocking the right lane. The impact propelled Vehicle #2 into the rear of Vehicle #4 and Vehicle #3 into the rear of Vehicle #5. Meanwhile, Vehicle #6, which was in the right lane, was hit by airborne debris. The source of the debris remains unknown.
