The police provided the following description of the collision:
Vehicle #1 was moving southbound on Kirkwood Avenue while Vehicle #2 was heading eastbound on 465th Street. The driver of Vehicle #1 failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign, subsequently entering the intersection and getting struck by Vehicle #2 on the passenger side. Following the impact, the passenger of Vehicle #1 was ejected from the vehicle. Meanwhile, Vehicle #2 rolled over, spilling a load of corn. The Stacyville Fire Department, Mitchell County Ambulance, and St Ansgar Fire and EMS were present at the scene.

Injuries
Eric Mitchell tragically succumbed to his injuries. He was transported by an unidentified service to Mayo Clinic Saint Marys Hospital .
