Vehicles #2 and #3 were parked on the right shoulder of the westbound Interstate 44, and the occupants were changing a tire. The driver of vehicle #1 was traveling in lane 1 and attempted to slow down due to traffic congestion. The driver lost control of vehicle #1, which then veered off the road to the right and struck vehicle #2. This impact set vehicle #2 in motion, causing it to hit pedestrians 1, 2, 3, and 4, and pinning them against vehicle #3. Trooper T.J. Straatman (959) assisted at the scene.
Injuries
Lavar C Tolliver sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital St Louis by Meramec Ambulance District .
Vehicle Damage
Tolliver was the driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, which was designated as vehicle #1. The police reported that this vehicle sustained total damage as a result of the collision. It was removed from the scene by Patriot Towing .
