The crash occurred when the first vehicle, driven by Varghese Mani, was northbound in the right lane and attempted to pass the second vehicle, driven by Joshua Jacob Greene, in the left lane within a construction zone. As the two-lane construction zone merged into one lane, Mani cut off Greene before the lane closure. This resulted in the first vehicle colliding with the second vehicle, spinning out, and hitting the wall. The first vehicle came to a rest in the median.
